Max Repair

max repair

Mervin Mobley is electrocuted when powering the family DVD player to play one of Max’s favorite DVDs. Scarred by his father’s nearly fatal accident with the DVD player, Max vows to devote his life to repairing electrical equipment, so that no one else has to suffer such a misfortune. Max grows up and becomes an IT repair technician for Sand Industries. An accident involving one of Sand Industries’ newest laptops gives Max the ability to interpret the sounds made by the electronic equipment that he repairs.

Max’s newly acquired ability allows him to rapidly progress in his company. Max refuses help from the rest of his team causing his co-workers to feel useless and unappreciated. He has caught the attention of the corporate managers, and it seems that his desired promotion is very likely.

Dr. Ted Tedium, Director of Research and Development at Sand Industries, becomes envious of the recognition that the repair depot, in particular Max, has attained due to his abilities. Dr. Tedium tries to discredit Max by getting his repair depot team to turn against him. Max becomes enticed to accept a promotion and work with Dr. Tedium in R&D. He shuns his team despite his team’s support in the face of Dr. Tedium’s efforts to discredit him. With Max in R&D, Dr. Tedium attempts to learn how to duplicate Max’s abilities, and hopefully improve them in order to complete his invention, which will allow all Sand Industries’ customers to know when their products are malfunctioning and need to be serviced.

Max feels disillusioned with his new position in R&D and yearns to return to his repair depot team. Dr. Tedium tries to convince Max that he needs to stay in R&D in order to prevent his repair depot department from being outsourced, disbanding the team and loss of jobs. Max decides to return to his repair depot team despite Dr. Tedium’s threats to have his team lose their jobs.

Max is surprised by the change in leadership in the repair depot during his absence. He feels out-of-place. Dr. Tedium approaches the CEO, Sheldon Sand, about Max’s departure from R&D and refusal to help complete the company’s new invention. Upper management threatens to terminate Max’s employment unless he returns to R&D. Max reluctantly returns to R&D.

The repair depot team devises a plan to help Max and the rest of the team keep their jobs, and prevent Dr. Tedium from meddling in their affairs.
